Bharti Kher

The work of Bharti Kher is made from thousands of bindi-on-fiberglass taking the form of an elephant.

Below you will find a photo of the elephant and a closer view of the bindi used to decorate it.
For your homework this week you are to comment about this artwork.

Where do you think this artist is from?
what do you think the artist is trying to say with this sculpture?
What do you think helps the artist get their point across? (hint: size, colour, facial expression?)
What would you have done different to this artist?

Welcome

Hi Students, I hope you have all had a very refreshing holiday.

This term we will be entering a very exciting project where you get to learn about cultural influences on art and will be asked to create your own related art piece to be displayed at the school and local art gallery.

Each week you will be asked to analise an image posted on this blog site and respond with a comment by using your gmail account login.
The artists you will be researching have been influenced some way by the location or era their art was made. Remember to keep notes on how these artists comment on their world and try to utilise these for your final artwork.

This week is an introductory to the term so there is no artwork to look at.
Instead you should post a comment on how your holidays were and about any art exhibitions you may have visited.
